As much as I love Barack Obama, he sure has a talent for putting his foot in his mouth. Most recently, he’s described how angry Hillary supporters will soon “get over it.” He’s right – when they see how bad McCain will be on their issues, they’ll turn to Obama – but there’s a better way to say that. As in, there’s a way to say it without playing directly into their fears.
Thank God there are McCain advisers out there praying for another terrorist attack. At least that might balance out the news cycle. Bush’s Republican party: preying on your fears since 2001.

Plus don’t forget the flipping and flopping that Obama has been doing all along! He is supporting President Bush on the warrantless spy bill so the government can spy on our phone calls! We can’t have this now can we!

Posted by goodtimepolitics | June 23, 2008, 8:10 pmSadly true. But that what mail campaigns are for. If he gets enough letters from his own supporters opposing his change, and he is truly an agent of change, then he will respond to the people’s will and change back to oppose it.
As for why the sudden turnabout, I can guess at his motive for flip-flopping on that subject: he’s trying to build his national security credentials—the Republican way.
Posted by Radioactive afikomen | June 23, 2008, 9:16 pmObama said what many Democrats are thinking when he said “get over it”. But as most things in an election, it was probably better left unsaid. Stay low on the subject till it blows over.
@godtimepolitics I don’t think anyone truly cared about the campaign financing because it’s not an issue now, but the FISA thing was disappointing. I think there’s a lot of pressure from the Democratic Party right now to support it, although I’m not sure what made them suddenly agree to this stuff.
But at the same time I know McCain would go much further.
Posted by oneiroi | June 23, 2008, 9:21 pmI feel that the Hilary supporters who would vote for McCain aren’t mostly acting on any kind of principle. They’re acting out of frustration and pique.
Obama never stooped to the lows the Clinton campaign did: the racial insinuations in particular turned me clean off HRC.
And how angry must you be to vote for McAncient instead of Obama? It’s one thing to say you’re the better dem candidate, and quite another to suggest that the repub is better than your opponent.
Obama’s biggest disappointment to me was the FISA business. Hopefully he’s getting an earful from his supporters now.
