I’ve added the feed for “The Caucus” blog to the sidebar: please let me know what you think. I think I have about two readers who visit commonly enough to have an opinion as to style. Could both of you please let me know what you think?
Also, for a while now, I’ve wanted to add sidenotes, a.k.a. “asides,” to the site. However, there doesn’t seem to be a way to do that in WordPress.com. Very disappointing. I’ll be looking into it, and if you have any knowledge, I’d greatly appreciate it.

it’s the difference between wordpress.COM and wordpress.ORG …
http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/07/wordpresscom-vs-wordpressorg/
that’s why the installation directions were saying to upload to the wordpress directory … because if you were using wordpress.ORG programming, you would have your site folders … wordpress.COM has all of the site folders (for all of their user’s blogs), and they don’t allow peeps to upload to them … which makes sense.
BUT … you can lobby for a universal widget …
http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/10/27/can-i-upload-my-own-plugins/
you get a lot of traffic and have been on the dashboard several times … you likely could make it happen! at the very least, it’s worth a shot …
cheers!
Posted by didionsmommy | July 15, 2008, 10:09 pmI think you overestimate me :-). But I like it! Complaint SENT. Cross your fingers…
Posted by Ames | July 16, 2008, 12:50 amIt’s reasonably useful, and it looks fine, but I don’t know that it needs to be that high up. I’d switch it and the MoI.
Posted by Gotchaye | July 16, 2008, 11:52 amames, get pc to help you … a true bipartisan effort! (seriously, he gets traffic, too, and he has a big-ol’ network of peeps!)
and i didn’t mean to sound pedantic in my first comment … i now see you already caught the difference between *.ORG and *.COM … it took me, like, a half hour to get it … i was explicating for myself as for anyone else …
Posted by didionsmommy | July 16, 2008, 12:38 pmThanks for the credit from Didionsmommy but I must admit I am completely clueless on the feeds and stuff. I think I’ve hit that wall where technology is moving faster than I can keep up with it. It had to happen sooner or later.
I have my best luck with just keeping things very simple and checking the FAQ for solutions.
Unfortunately though, WordPress is pretty tough about pluginis and stuff. The RNC has some good ones I’d like to use but they don’t work.
Posted by Progressive Conservative | July 16, 2008, 2:10 pmi wonder — assuming you could get your hands on the *.org plug-in’s code — if you could insert another text-box widget … i dunno if that would work … i am trying to think of a way for you to have the formatting of the “aside” and getting around the plug-in prohibition …
brainstorming … i admit don’t know enough programming …

and p.c. … if you sent an entreaty to the wordpress titans, it would help ames AND you! the more people (with blogs that actually get hits) who complain, the better!
