Holy #*(%^!) It’s ON!

Barack Obama, today, let the world know where he stands on this election’s turn for the nasty: “let me be clear: I will let no-one question my love of this country.”  Setting the tone for the remainder of the term, Obama said that McCain has “no idea what he’s up against,” just as his campaign began to run a slew of negative ads.  While I’ve previously urged Obama to hold the negative ads in check, if he can maintain a positive but confrontational tone – like Evan Bayh (I just love that clip) – it’ll be for the better.  Meanwhile, we await the VP.

  1. The best line in that article:

Responding to Obama’s comments, McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said: “Barack Obama has made it clear that unconditional withdrawal in Iraq is more important to him than victory in Iraq. That’s not a criticism of his patriotism, that’s a criticism of his judgment.”

  2. What I think people should get from this is as follows:
“I have never suggested that Sen. McCain picks his positions on national security based on politics or personal ambition. I have not suggested it because I believe that he genuinely wants to serve America’s national interest. Now, it’s time for him to acknowledge that I want to do the same.”

It’s the most important thing to get past stupid partisan politics.

  3. I agree. McCain’s camp has characterized Obama’s policy positions as bad for this country. Obama chooses to read into it that he’s un-patriotic and claim that’s what they said. THAT is unfortunately partisan.

  4. I’m not trying to make this about politics, Obama has done the same thing sometimes, I’m willing to admit it, the important part is coming to the realization that both candidates genuinely have the best intentions and stop trying to disavow their sincerity and commitment to the country.

I know this probably will never happen, but it’s still something I say is important.
