Virginia Firmly Blue

On the heels of record voter registration in the state, SurveyUSA puts Barack Obama up by ten points. Rasmussen gives him a two-point lead, but the message is the same. The fifty state strategy worked.

  1. If Obama wins Virginia, he has the election in the bag. Period. I just don’t see it happening, though. I suppose I ought to go to Intrade and put my money where my mouth is…. ;-)

  2. I heard yesterday that Obama’s people are saying they knock 5% off any numbers they see because of the liklihood that polling is skewed since he is black. Basically they are accounting for voting booth racism. Virginia is one place where that may be a big factor.

  3. The most important thing is not to get cocky, not to think you shouldn’t donate, or go out and vote.

I don’t want Obama supporters to fall into complacency, with how fickle the election polling has been…this is still anyone’s game.

  4. You know the election is in the Democrats’ favor when Karl Rove’s electoral map has Obama winning, with borderline states included!

  5. Actually, Oneiroi, it’s inherent in the polling process. After all, they are all snapshots, and oftentimes out of date. There are states that haven’t been polled for over a month. Different states are polled on different days. There’s always a time lag…

  6. Wait, I’m confused why you addressed that to me Ian…? I mean if it’s up and down…it’s still up and down even if there’s a time delay. And the broader point that people should not be complacent is still valid.
